Professor of the Year

Each year, the Union Board bestows the honour of Professor of the Year on the basis of chapter nominations.

With this honour, the Union seeks to emphasise the role of higher education, diverse learning and the professorship as cornerstones of Finnish society. The first Professor of the Year was named in 1984.

The choice of Professor of the Year endeavours to shine a light on the creative and interesting work of professors. Professors are the principal professional group working within universities and research institutes. Professors conduct research and serve in responsible management positions within the fields of science and art.
