General Meeting to be held on 11 October
The General Meeting of the Union in Helsinki has been moved to a larger location. The lunch before the meeting at 12pm will be at the previously announced location, Marski by Scandic. The Meeting will take place at 1pm at Scandic Helsinki Hub, address Annankatu 18. There will also be a post-meeting Cocktail Event at the Helsinki Hub.
Dear Member,
You are welcome to attend the General Meeting of the Finnish Union of University Professors organised every second year and open to all members.
Date and time: Friday, 11 October 2024, at 1 p.m.
Place: Scandic Helsinki Hub, addr. Annankatu 18, Helsinki
Lunch will be served from 12 noon before the meeting at Marski by Scandic, address Mannerheimintie 10, Helsinki.
In the beginning of the Meeting, Professor Vili Lehdonvirta (Aalto University) will give a talk (in Finnish) under the title Where does AI live? The global political geography of data centres.
Please note that the language of the Meeting will be Finnish. English live captioning by Teams will be shown during presentations.
The General Meeting will elect the Union’s Council for the years 2025–2026. According to the Union bylaws, the Union’s General Meeting shall deliberate on the annual reports drafted by the Board of Directors. The annual reports for the years 2022 and 2023 are accessible in their entirety on the Union’s website.
At the Union’s General Meeting, each regular member (=personal member) is entitled to vote.
After the meeting, you are welcome to attend a cocktail event celebrating the Union’s 55th Anniversary and the new Directory of Professors. The cocktail event ends at 4:30 p.m.
