Statement on the draft of the Government decision of principle on the national strategy on immaterial rights (IPR strategy)

The Finnish Union of University Professors states that the IPR strategy cannot be considered apart from the general objectives related to RDI investments, productivity increases and basic research.

The Union emphasises the important role of professors and other researchers in universities and research institutes within the innovation system in Finland and Europe as a whole. The Finnish RDI system will not be internationally competitive unless professors and other researchers are provided with internationally-competitive operating conditions that help them to produce scientific innovations.
