Statement on the Government’s public finance plan for 2023-2026

The public finance plan examines not only the expenditure framework but also the revenue and the rebalancing of these in relation to the Stability and Growth Pact and its recent relief measures. Even though the plan has been drawn up within an uncertain situation and in the face of a hazy future, the Union feels that it provides an exceptionally realistic and future-positive foundation for the renewal of the democratic welfare society within the Nordic countries.

The Union’s concerns about the role of scientific research and the resourcing of research-based higher education and RDI activities have been heard, and the planned resources can start to be used for the purpose of implementing the updated vision for higher education and research in 2030.
