The Board of the Finnish Union of University Professors met on 1 March 2024 and discussed, among other things, the situation at the University of Jyväskylä.
At its meeting, the Board
- received a report on the general labour market situation.
- received a report on the labour market situation of universities.
- reviewed the Union’s preliminary Annual Report for 2023.
- discussed the situation at the University of Jyväskylä. The employer has recommended that all employees exchange holiday bonuses for time off. The union has informed its members that the Collective Agreement for Universities does not allow holiday bonuses to be exchanged for time off for teaching and research personnel with total working hours, and the Union cannot recommend exchanging holiday bonuses.
- took note of the Union’s statement on the draft decrees on the reform of the university funding model.
- took note of the Union’s statement on amending the Government Decrees on fees charged for the operation of universities of applied sciences and universities.
- took note that the Union has submitted its comments to the Ministry of Education and Culture on the draft ministerial declaration of the next Ministerial Meeting of the European Higher Education Area (29 – 30 May 2024, Tirana). The ministers will outline the objectives and priorities of the Bologna Process for the coming years.
- received a report on international meetings.
